Why is nikki different to other counsellors?
In my counselling practice, I believe that the whole person, and their family system show up at the door when they are looking to relieve symptoms that are keeping them from functioning in everyday life. This relates to your culture, your spirit, your mind, your body, your heart, your energy, your preferences, your shadow self, your cosmic self, your family system, your lineage back to your ancestral beginnings ... in fact, every, single part of you and your systems that makes up YOU as a whole person, ALL of YOU. That is the difference between me and other counsellors.
What is 'HOLISTIC' Counselling?
Holistic counselling uses a diverse range of tools, techniques and connections beyond that of the physical that support your quest for wellness. These include working with every aspect of your being, and the systems you are connected to. In holistic counselling, the approach is we recognise every single part of you, and web of relationships in which you, as a person, are embedded into. Think of a drop of water in a pond - one drop impacts every other molecule of water in that pond. In this way we work with you and your systems holistically, knowing the work you do in counselling with Nikki impacts not only you, but your family and all the systems you are connected to.

For this reason, we use our tools and techniques very carefully and with marked accuracy, much like a skilled archer shoots an arrow straight to a bulls eye on a target. Everything we do is for a reason so that it draws out the best result for you - nothing is haphazard. This means your sessions with Nikki don't go on endlessly - you find your way, then you go on your way, empowered and enlightened about the book of YOU. The only thing we ask is that you pay it forward to someone else who may need access to a similar service!
DO YOU OFFER A MEDICARE REBATE?
No, however it will generally still cost you less to see me than to see other providers, as their out of pocket expenses are generally more costly than mine, even including the rebate.

The Medicare rebate only covers 10 sessions, you still pay a significant amount of money, and if you want to continue with a provider who offers a rebate, additional sessions would be at full price. The cost of a session on a Mental Health plan can vary from $185 to $165 of which you may only get $74.50 - $124.50 back depending on your level of benefits.

Overall it is likely to be cost less to see me than another practitioner that offers the rebate, both in the short and long term.
WHY SHOULD I ATTEND COUNSELLING?
Confidentiality may not always observed by family members and can aggravate your situation.  It can help to meet with someone outside your friends and family to get an objective view on your situation and to benefit from the tools Nikki has to do the deeper work. Counselling provides a safe space to make decisions that truly nourish and support you. Overall you will begin to feel better, and in time, you will become better resourced than you already are.
WHAT TOOLS DOES A HOLISTIC COUNSELLOR USE?
Our list of tools and techniques are long and varied and are applied at the various layers e.g. physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, physiological, familial when required. Herein lies the skill of your counsellor to apply the right tool or technique at the right time for the right reason to the right layer. Done right, and if the client is ready, and their systems can hold the changes, together we can move mountains!

My favourite tools and techniques are mentioned here among many:
Family Constellations, Structural Constellations, Creative Visualisation, EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), DFT(Disolution Freedom Technique, The Work of Byron Katie, Mindfulness, Meditation, Massage, Effective Communication, Non-Violent Communication, Deep Listening - Active Listening, Empathic Listening, Literal Listening, All of Body Listening, Empathy and the list goes on...
how long does it take?
how many sessions will i need?
Usually, 3 to 6 sessions. Some people may take longer because they prefer a slower pace - I always meet you where you are at and we work with what works for you.
WHAT DO YOU ACTUALLY DO IN A SESSION?
You have to come to experience a session - its like trying to describe what having a baby feels like to a person who has never given birth.
I AM NOT SPIRITUAL OR RELIGIOUS - WILL IT WORK FOR ME?
There is no need to be a spiritual person or a religious person. By spirit, we talk about that part of you that is looking through your eyes right now reading this - if you didn't have that, you would not be alive. Its that part we are talking about.
DO YOU OFFER COUPLES COUNSELLING?
No, I am not qualified to do Couples Counselling.
IF I ALREADY KNOW YOU, CAN I ATTEND COUNSELLING WITH YOU?
There are best practice guidelines from my professional association that prevent that from happening however, each case is evaluated individually and it really is at the counsellor and their supervisors discretion whether it is appropriate or not. Feel free to discuss this with me and I am happy to find a peer counsellor from my network who will be able to service your counselling needs just as well.
DO YOU HAVE EFTPOS FACILITIES?
Yes, I use Square for EFTPOS. I also accept cash and will offer a $5 discount for cash.
I DON'T ANYONE TO KNOW I AM ATTENDING COUNSELLING, HOW DO YOU HANDLE THIS?
Your records are kept under lock and key. I am the vault. I do not discuss your case with anyone and my professional integrity is at stake so I take this very seriously as I love what I do - it is like breathing for me. The only way someone will know you are attending counselling is if you tell them yourself.
I WANT MY PARTNER TO COME TO COUNSELLING WITH YOU, IS THIS POSSIBLE?
Discuss this with me. It is a tricky area because this is where the lines of confidentiality may accidentally become blurred - your counsellor may know about issues from your partner and may even have an unconscious bias. It is usually best to see separate counsellors, and I can refer your partner to an equally qualified peer counsellor if needed.
WHAT TOOLS DO YOU USE?
List of tools to be discussed in blog posts - and will be listed here in time to come. For now, if you have any questions, feel free to email me.
I Live too far away - do you do online counselling?
Yes, I do. Zoom is my preferred choice of tool for online counselling. Using the BOOK NOW button, just choose the Online Counselling Option to book your appointment, and then make sure you transfer the your payment with enough time for it to reach my bank account prior to the your session. No payment, no session.  I will send through an email notification to you prior to our meeting, and you just click on the links to connect.
HOW DO I GET THERE USING PUBLIC TRANSPORT?
Springwood Station is the nearest bus station - it is a 10 minute walk to my location. There are no trains running nearby. Most people find a walk helpful before and after a session as it focusses their mind on their intention for the session, and helps them digest what we have done in session, after the session. If you have an evening appointment, I will often drop you at the station to ensure your safety at night, especially if you are a female client.  You can use Translink to plan your journey.
